Description
A chapel was built in 1781 in Wood Lane and closed in 1805. In 1805 the chapel in Walkergate was opened and was enlarged in 1836-7. It was replaced by the chapel in Toll Gavel in 1892, and demolished in 1903. In 1955 the congregation from Wednesday Market (Primitive Methodist) church joined the Wesleyan church and used the premises in Toll Gavel. In 1976 the United Reform Church at Lairgate and the Wesleyan Church agreed to form a United Church at Toll Gavel.
