TitleSOCIETY OF FRIENDS AND NON-PAROCHIAL REGISTERS (MICROFILM)
Date[1640s-1837]
DescriptionContains some of the Society of Friends and other non-parochial registers which were taken into the custody of the Registrar General under the Non-Parochial Registers Act of 1840. The area covered on film is that of the former East Riding (including Hull) together with those parts of the former West Riding now in the present East Riding and those parts of the former North Riding within the Anglican Archdeaconry of the East Riding (the parish registers for which are already deposited at this office). The North Riding border town of Malton is also included as East Riding members are amongst its chapel congregations. The films also include four out-county 'strays': an unidentified one between Bradford and Halifax, Pontefract, Leeds and Bewerley near Ripon.
Foundation dates and other historical details given in some of the entries are mainly taken from the certificates or statements accompanying the registers when returned.
The original registers are held at the Public Record Office (references RG4 and RG6).
