Abstract | Wilberforce Women was set up in response to Wilberforce 2007 campaign to commemorate the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade. Kingston upon Hull was the birthplace of the abolitionist William Wilberforce. Wilberforce Women invited women to think about pride, freedom, belief and change and contribute a photograph on their chosen theme to send as greetings cards to women in the twin city of Sierra Leone, Africa. The women there were taught basic photography and invited to return the greetings. |
