Notes | George Stovin was born in the parish of Crowle in about 1695 or 1696. He married Sarah, daughter and heir of James Empson of Goole in 1735. He inherited the estate of Hatfield Chase on his father's death and was interested in the drainage of the Chase and became a Commissioner of Sewers. The manuscript is an account of the drainage of Hatfield Chase, which was begun by Sir Cornelius Vermuyden |
