DescriptionRefers to the monument of Major General Barnard Foord Bowes, in the south transept of Beverley Minster. Barnard was baptised at St Saviour's church York in 1769, his military career started at the age of 12, he served in Ireland, Canada, Gibraltar and in the Peninsular War, in Spain and Portugal, was wounded at Siege of Badajoz in 1812 and killed on the assault of Salamanca Fort in 1812.
