AbstractThe archive of the Wilberforce Memorial was deposited at the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research in Februry 1998. It includes the records of the Yorkshire School for the Blind, founded in 1833, and the Wilberforce Home for the Multiple-Handcipped Blind which opened in 1969, after the closure of the school. The archive is a prime source for the history of the education and the training of the blind, not only in York itself, but also in a much wider context.
