AbstractThe Beverley preceptory of the Knights Hospitaller was founded soon after 1201 and occupied continuously until the suppression of the order in 1540. In the 17th century the site was used a s a pest-house for the town during major outbreaks of plague. Despite the survival of reasonably good documentary references for this house, little was known about its physical form and layout before 1990.
