TitleInvestigations into the Romano-British industries of Holme-on-Spalding Moor
Date1983
DescriptionA survey of the Romano-British industries of the valley along the River Foulness in Holme-on-Spalding Moor.
AbstractField work by the Field Study Group of the East Riding Archaeological Society set up in March 1980 concentrated in the southern area of Holme-on-Spalding Moor, along the River Foulness. Romano-British pottery has been known in this site since the mid 19th century and kiln sites excavated at Throlam Farm and Tollingham Farm (1931), Bursea House (1963) and Hasholme Hall (1971-2). This article reinforces the suggestion that the River Foulness played an important role in the transportation of industrial products.
