TitleEarlier Prehistoric Activity and a later Iron Age and Roman Field System at Beacon Lagoons, Kilnsea, East Riding of Yorkshire
Date2014
AbstractLate in 2011, areas totalling circa 1.4 hectares were stripped by machine under archaeological supervision during the creation of new wetland lagoons to the south of Easington, close to the hamlet of Kilnsea. The excavations revealed earlier prehistoric activity, probably representing seasonal occupation at times of year when available resources were abundant. This activity was dated by predominantly later Neolithic and early Bronze Age flints, two Bronze Age radiocarbon dates and later Bronze Age pottery.
