TitleSeal matrices: recent Yorkshire discoveries
Date2005
DescriptionA statistical analysis of the evidence with some interesting specific examples. Includes reference to a penancer's matrix from Beverley.
AbstractThe Portable Antiquities Scheme introduced in 1997 has resulted in a large number of seal matrices from the 13th and 14th centuries being brought forward by members of the public. This volume of material means it is possible to derive some meaningful statistical information about the types and styles of matrix used.
