TitlePolitics and agriculture in the East and North Ridings of Yorkshire
Date1988
AbstractAn analysis of the reports and enquiries launched by the pro-Corn Law faction during the first half of the 19th century. In these farmers were represented as a much maligned class struggling to maintain their economic identity in the face of unsupportable costs. The present essay attempts to distinguish between the true state of agriculture and the ills from which it was alleged to suffer.
