AbstractThe successful competitor in class 1 of the Royal Agricultural Society's Yorkshire farm-prize competition in 1883, for grazing or dairying farms of 150 acres or more, was Robert Edward Turnbull, whose talents had been applied since 1881 to the running of a dairy enterprise at Twyers a farm on the edge of the borough of Hedon in the parish of Preston.
