The earliest surviving record starts in 1873. This circuit appears to have been created from the Howden branch of the Swinefleet Primitive circuit c.1860-1870 (for records see EMG/3-6) Records prior to the Methodist Union of 1932 are those of the Primitive circuit, which was thereafter called the Howden, St John circuit In September 1934 this circuit amalgamated with the Howden, Hailgate circuit to form the Howden circuit (for records see EMG/127-135)
