Joyce Acklam and Marian Hoggard aged 16. Joyce Acklam was adopted as a baby by the Acklam family. Her step-brother Bernard was the founder of Alpha Taxis on Ladygate. Bernard also set up the Acklam buses and coaches firm.

'Three Acklams' shows Mr Acklam senior (a Quaker and born before 1865) and lived in Dyer Lane. His son John Acklam was born in the 1890s. His son Bernard was born in the 1920s. The photograph was taken at the back of 49 Morton Lane.
