AdminHistory | Frank Woods came from a long line of yeoman farmers at Humbleton Hall. He was a fine horseman and practised the family tradition of hunting, making him typical of many early Yeomanry recruits. It is believed that he joined the East Riding Yeomanry as a Private although he appears as a Sergeant in several pre-war photographs in the album of Major Jack Lee Smith, Wood's cousin and close friend. Wood was commissioned on 26 September 1914 and served until June 1921. |
