The basic aim of the Association was to promote the comradeship experienced in the bitter fighting in the jungles of Burma, and also to set up a welfare organisation for members and widows in need. The Royal Air Force Regiment (South East Asia Command) Association was formed in Apr 1982 to enable contact between old comrades and organise reunions. Several reunions were held at Bridlington, hosted by the local Burma Star Association. Sources: 'Constant Vigilance, The RAF Regiment in the Burma Campaign' by Nigel W M Warwick (Pen & Sword Aviation, 2007) has been used to identify some of the photographs in this collection. In the foreword Air Commodore Marcus Witherow RAF (retired) states that this book stems primarily from the collaboration of Henry Kirk and Dr Nigel Warwick. |
