Robert Gibbs emigrated to America with his brother John c.1831 and settled in Herkiner County. New York. He was born in Yorkshire 1801 and married Rebecca Craven of Acklam in 1830. After going to America they lived in Ulica for 4 years and in 1835 went to Illinois where they settled
