Description | These (copy?) photographs with some negatives were the official war photographs taken by Captain William Pakenham on board the 'Asahi' and sent to the Japanese Minister of Marine. They were originally stored in a box labelled 'Photographs - Japan, Tsushima etc' and 'Japanese naval photographs' and are divided into three sections, 'A' April 1904, 'B' the Battle of 10 Aug 1904 and 'C' the Battle of 27 May 1905. Includes a typed description by Pakenham of each batch of photographs. Also includes postcard to Pakenham from the captain of the Saya(?), 1907; an invitation to meet Admiral Togo and the officers under his command; unidentified ship with British flag and a Japanese lady. |
