Informs Jessie that he has been staying with 'the Duchess' since Christmas. (The letter is on headed paper - 'Brownsea Island, Poole'. He reports that he is glad to hear that Jessie is going to be staying with Lord and Lady Dufferin in Ottawa. He also reports that Salton [Walter Salton the land agent?] has discussed Jessie's allowance and debts. Says that the county of Dorset has been turned 'inside out' by the visit of the Prince and Princess to Crichel. He says there have been many balls in London and that Lady Salisbury and the Ferdinand Rothchilds have given balls.
