Title
Letter from Thomas G Bowles to Lady Jessica Sykes
Date
13 Mar 1873
Description
On headed paper 'Wansford' and addressed from the 'Haycock Inn'. Bowles writes to 'My dear child'. Bowles appears to have received a letter from Jessie, upon receipt of which he 'cried like a baby'. He expresses his shock at Jessie's behaviour and dismay at her failure to return his affection. He ends his letter on a more generous note 'It will always be a pleasure to me to hear from you if ever your care to write or that I can do anything for you in my small way. I shall be glad to see you decently settled in life, but don't be in a hurry ...'
