DescriptionContaining letters from: M Stow, Ganton to her mother Mrs M Stow, Kilnwick; and Captain Cartwright, Marnham to M Stow relating to account of the 'Innuets' (Labrador Indians or Eskimos) brought to England by George Cartwright, a trader establishing salmon and seal fishery on the Labrador coast; description of their physical features, way of life, characteristics, personalities and reaction to English customs. Their portraits painted in London; taken to Court. 4 members of the party died of smallpox in Plymouth before returning to Labrador, only one, Caubric, a young girl, survived to go home. Account of Captain Cartwright's reception on his return to Labrador.
