Date15 Dec 1754
DescriptionIncludes references to he and several people who had viewed Metcalfes farm all being agreed that it could not be more than thirty five or six pounds; Grimston having made it above fifty by his survey; the survey that he has sent to Grimston being very exact and containing the names of every field that Grimston had given him in it; discussion of rents; his ability to provide a tennant who is at present a tennant of his fathers and whose farm is the nearest to Smeaton Bridge; his plans to live at the Town of Smeaton and and let the house and ground west of the Turnpike to one tennant; the house he has taken being being where Staines lately lived; there being very little ground with the house and none to be taken in the town but at a very great price he is forced to take a small farm; a recommendation of a Richardson for a farm, he being a most ingenious man who has surveyed a good deal for Hewgill; his Father having had three fainting fits and Foggy having his horse which Hewgill thinks would make a tolerable coach horse
