TitleLetter to John Grimston at Richard's Coffee house at Temple Bar, London from Anthony Hadfield at Laughton
Date3 Jan 1753
DescriptionIncludes references to Grimston continuing the relief of his aunt's daughter; Farmer Thomas Motram to board her at half a crown per week from New Year's Day; Motram having a careful wife but no children; Sarah Hamerton having been mistaken to place the funeral expenses with Grimston as Hadfield's nieces had given her money to defray that expense and Sarah had said that the amount would overdo it; the 6 guineas being drawn from Mr Maister being sufficient for some time as she should want little at present except for two shifts that Hadfield proposes to buy her as she has only two; Hadfield's calculations for future relief being £8, of which £6.10s will go on board and the remaining £1.10s to keep her in cloathes; £12 having been allowed for mother and daughter but his brother during his life having allowed her Bread Corners and coals therefore the greater proportion was required; Hadfield taking care of the affair whilst he is at Laughton, after which it will pass to William Beckwith, the Principal person in the Parish and costs already paid by Hadfield being to W[illia]m Pearson for 3 w[eeks] board, two women to accompany [the daughter] from Rotherham and money paid to Mrs Hamerton
