Letter from S[i]r John Goodricke Bar[one]t, Hague
Date
5 Nov 1751
Description
Includes references to having recommended Mr Hudson to one of the best Houses in Leyden; the Hague being a dull place due to the death of the P[rince] of Orange having put a stop to all Public[k] diversions, assemblies having been suspended and the Comedians having gone to Ghent and publicly sold all their Thunder, Lightning and Rain; Crowns being very cheap and being able to have an Imperial one for a Ducat; Grimston mentioning Bell with a kind of Rapture and Ned Blacket having set an example so that no Yorkshireman will be content with less than Twenty Thousand Sterling
