DescriptionUnderstands that His Excellency is hoping to visit Dusky Bay and offers his services to accompany him and sketch the area. He is compiling around 100 sketches, including some of the Chinese War on HMS Conway under Captain CR Drinkwater-Bethune. He mentions that he collected shells, fossils, plants, beasts and over 400 specimens of birds some of which the British Museum had never seen before. He was also the first to provide a living specimen of the water clam to the Linnean Society. Most of his collections are in the Philosophical Society. Reply thanks him for the offer of his services but another person will accompany the Governor-in-Chief.
