TitleLetter from George Rudston-Read, Hull, to his brother, Rev Thomas Cutler Rudston-Read, Ramsgate, Kent
Date5 Oct 1829
DescriptionMentions the price of wheat and corn and that the price would have been reduced except for the extreme poverty of the farmers. Speaks of a farmer who used a 'trashing' [threshing?] machine which 'caused an abundance to come all at once into the Market'. The millers took advantage of it and the price dropped. Russian wheat is becoming the favoured kind because of its quality. Requests his brother's opinion over a risk. Will send the bonds to York.
