Bequests include: body to be buried in St Michael's, Cornhill (in the vault under the cross and pulpit); jewels, merchandise, plate and ready money to be divided into three equal portions: Ursula Rudston, his wife, another portion divided between Robert Rudston, John Rudston, William Rudston, Jane Rudston and Elizabeth whilst Emma, the daughter by his first wife has already received her portion but receives £300 and the remainder of the this third portion, making and mending of highways in the City, marriages of poor maidens. Ursula to have the remainder of the term of years on the great messuage at Cornhill in London which he holds by indenture of the parishioners and wardens of the church; various monies to the church to pray for his soul; St Edmund's church in Lombard Street, 40 shillings to the parishioners; to Black Friars, Grey Friars, Austin Friars, White Friars and Crutched [?] Friars to pray for his soul, 40 shillings with trigintalls of masses and £20 to work of church. To the Dartford nuns, £20; towards the marriage of the poor maidens of Cornhill, Langborne and Candlewick Street, £20 to pray for his soul; to John Rudston's godchildren, 3s 4d; to the each covent of the Observant Friars at Greenwick, Richmond, Canterbury, Newark, Southampton and Newcastle to pray for his soul and all Christian souls, long grey woollen cloth for their habits, value of 5 marks; to the fraternity of the priests at Pappy [?], £20 to pray for his soul; to the Fraternity of parish clerks of St Nicholas, 10 shillings with three trigintall masses at St Michael's, Cornhill, immediately after his death with a bequest of 33 shillings; bequests to poor scholars; to poor scholars not in Oxford or Cambridge universities and studying in holy divinity, £15 with £30 to be divided among them one year after his death; executors to ordain and provide one English brethren of the Crossed Friars to pray for his soul and say mass at one of the altars of the Scala in the Conventual church for five years with a bequest of £20; poor households to receive coals in St Michael, Cornhill, St Edmond and St Nicholas, Lombard Street, the week before Christmas for the next ten years and that they should pray for his soul; all devout women and maidens living with him at his death, 20 shillings; to his cousin, Robert Rudston, 100 marks; to his nephew, Walter Rudston, £20; to his cousin, Elnor [Eleanor] Wyllyamson, wife of Gregory Wyllyamson, skinner, 40 marks and to Eleanor's children, £4; to his sister, Elizabeth Rudston, £10; to children of his brothers in law and their wives (John Rudston's sisters, Margaret, Dorothy and Elizabeth, £4 with further provision); to his wife's father, Sir Robert Dymocke, black gown worth 10 shillings per yard; to Lady Prioress of Depford, white habit of 7 shillings per yard; to Sir Lyon Dymocke, black gown of 6s 8d per yard; to Thomas Davy, skinner and his wife (John Ruston's cousin), Alice Holgill, widow of John Dene [?] scrivener, cloth for a black gown of 5 shillings per yard; Francis wife, kinswoman of his wife, 40 shillings in money and 5 shillings per yard; to poor householders of St Michael, St Edmond, St Nicholas whose moveable goods are less than £10, to recieve 12d; executors to give 1d to poor householders every Sunday for seven years to pray for his soul; to Edward Edyngton, draper, his covenant servant and £20 and black gown; to wife of Sampier clothworker, 40 and black gown of 3s 4d per yard; within six months after his death 20s of bread to poor prisoners of Ludgate, Newgate, Marshalsea and King's Bench, £4 in total; to Honourable Craft of Drapers of London, great white standing cup and a cover of silver; to Elizabeth Cresnor, professed nun of Dartford, white cloth for a habit, value 6s 8d per yard; to Beatrice Marshall, Margaret Mounteney and Felyce, at one time gentlewomen to Lady Salisbury and now nuns in Dartford [?], white habits at 5s per yard; executors to provide 24 new torches for the funeral to be held by honest householders living within the parishes of St Michael, Saint Edmond and St Nicholas who will recieve black gowns at 4s 6d; and the torches to be distributed amongst the parishes; to parish church of Hayton (where he was born), cope of blue velvet on which his name and arms are embroidered; value of £4; to poor householders of Hayton, 40 shillings, to pray for his soul; to Gregory Williamson and his wife, Eleanor, black gown at 5 shillings per yard; Mr Mylborn, Mr Bayley, Mr Rafe Dodmer, knights, [Nicholas] Lambard, alderman, Sir Lawrence Aylmer, black gown of 6s 8d per yard; to William Brothers, Thomas Poynt and Anthony Burghe, drapers and Henry Bacton, skinner, black gowns of 5 shillings per yard; to those living with John Rudston at his death, black gowns at 3s 4d per yard; manors and lands lying in Holderness and Okysbrydge [Uxbridge], Owndell as elsewhere in the realm of England which are siezed of Ursula Rudston until the lawful heir reaches 26 years of age when Ursula continues to receive the rents, with provision for the death of the heir; within 12 months, the executors to pay master wardens and coialte[?] of the Craft and Mystery of Drapers, £120 in ready money to purchase lands in the City of London with a clear value of £4 per year; on the anniversay of John Rudston's death the masters and wardens to distribute 40 shillings so that the master receives 3s 4d with dirge and requiem mass, to four wardens present, 20d , 6s 8d for a 'potacon' [abbrev.] after the dirge, 10s to either clerk and bedill for their labours, 12d, to parson or his deputy, 8d, to every priest or clerk and sextons, 4d, for ringing of bells, 2s, two wax tapers held by two poor parishioners to be burnt at the anniversary of his death, 20d[?] to each of three churches, 12d; residue of 40s to be distributed among poor; residue of the third portion is gifted and bequeathed to his children of his wife, Ursula Rudston and to be divided between them with provision if children die before 21 years of age; to his executors, £20 and a black gown; to Nichas [Nicholas] Rudston, a hollow silver basin 'which I occupie at my Shavyng'; to Dorothy Venables, wife of Robert Venables, £10 with her son (John Rudston's godson), £4; to Sir Robert Dymock and John Baker, recorder of the City of London, £10, for their good counsel and labour and a black gown to the recorder and his wife.
