Title
Letter from Clifford, Highbroke[?] to Sir Thomas Hugh Clifford Constable
Date
17 Nov 1813
Description
'Dear Cousin'. Would attend meeting of Private Board if it will aid the cause. Refers to Bishops of Durham, Irish Bishops and a Dr. Milner. Mentions a Petition. If restoration of Bourbons is to be a condition of peace then we are as 'far from it as ever' [?].
With copy letter to Mr Jermingham, 16 Nov 1813. Not attending meeting. Petition should state all grievances so the public know 'we are without any crime'. Looks for repeal of laws related to religious opinion. Some Irish peers are members of the English Catholic Board.
