DescriptionRoger of Mareys of Skeftling to his chief lord for his tenements in Westhalsam, Sir Simon the Constable and his wife Lady Katherine and the heirs of their bodies property all demesne land which he holds of Sir Simon in Westhalsam (i.e. ½ carucate and a rent of 2s. which William Sparewe paid to Master Hugh of Skeftling (whose kinsman ("nepos") and heir Roger is) for 2 bovates in Westhalsham which he held of him. Rent of 2s. which Stephen Bernard of Brustwik similarly paid to Master Hugh for 2 bovates of the same fee which he held of him in the same town.
Rendering a mark of silver yearly to Roger for his life, at their manor of Halsham (Page 32) Witnesses: Robert son of Sir Robert of Ros, Sir Geoffrey Gumbald, Sir Amand of Ruda (Routh), Sir John Passemer, John of Otringham, Robert of Boyeby, Stephen of Oustwyk, William of Grimeston, John of Fitling.
