| Description | This series consists of files created by Humberside County Council and also files transferred to them in 1974 by East Riding County Council and West Riding County Council. The series was originally broken into sections with the following references: BL - smallholdings, DL - police, EL - education, FL - public protection, GL - general county property, HL - highways, JL - mortgages, KL - probation, LL - leisure services, ML - printing and stationery, NL - finance, OL - planning, PL - miscellaneous, QL - personnel and management. These original file references have been included in the description of the file. Many of these files were missing prior to 1996, some were destroyed in Mar 1996 and a further review was undertaken in Nov-Dec 2004 to leave the final selection of files for permanent preservation listed here.
Many of the files appear to have been taken from the Humberside County Council's main registry of files (now listed as CCHU/2/3/1/1- ). These have been listed in the same format as the main series with titles including the name of the committee that created the file. The main registry file reference is also included in the description. A series of files with the original reference QL33 (CCHU/2/3/2/160-195) relate to local government reorganisation under the Local Government Act 1972. |
