| Description | Incorporating records transferred from East Riding County Council. A Joint Committee was formed in 1953 to administer The Victoria County History for the East Riding and the Cities of York and Hull. The Joint Committee held meetings alternating between Beverley, Hull and York and consisted of the general editor of the VCH, the local editor, a representative from Hull University and representatives from the East Riding, Hull and York. The East Riding County Council provided the secretary and treasurer for the committee.
