The content of reports varies slightly over the series but typically contains the following information: vital statistics such as population, birth and death rates, infant deaths, number of inquests; reports on local health and other services including maternity care, health visiting, nursing and midwifery services, mental health services; reports on sanitary circumstances including water supply, number of houses completed, water closet accommodation; reports of notifications of infectious diseases; reports on inspection and supervision of food. and also include rainfall returns. Reports from 1944 also include reports of the School Medical Officer which contain statistics on: medical inspections and handicapped children and incorporate reports of the educational psychologist and dental officer. |
