| AdminHistory | The Borough of Bridlington was created by a royal Charter of Incorporation dated 15 July 1899 and met for the first time in November 1899. The Council functioned until it was disbanded under local government reorganisation in March 1974 following the Local Government Act 1972.
The Borough of Bridlington consisted of the township of Bridlington and parts of the townships of Bessingby, Hilderthorpe and Sewerby. The boundaries of the Borough were extended in 1923 when parts of Hilderthorpe and Bessingby and Sewerby cum Marton were added and again in 1935 under the terms of the Local Government Review Order when parts of the civil parishes of Bessingby, Fraisthorpe with Auburn and Wilsthorpe, Sewerby and Marton and Flamborough were added. |
