| Description | At a public meeting of the Commissioners of Bridlington Piers held at the Ship Inn in Bridlington Key on 4 Sep 1800 a petition of several merchants, ship owners and other inhabitants of Bridlington Quay was taken into account. It was ordered that John Simpson and John Cook, 'having made passages from their houses, under the footway to the head of the north pier, and broke out doors in the wall adjoining the Quay, and they having agreed to pay the annual sum of sixpence each, to commence from the fifth day of April last as an acknowlegement for such privilege, shall be permitted to continue the same, 'till the Commissioners shall order the contrary' |
