You can use the catalogue to search for information about the East Riding Archives and Local Studies collections.
The catalogue gives you a description of the item with its finding number, title, description and date for an archive record or class number, author, title and publication date for a local studies book.
Archives - the catalogue includes:
A description of every item in all of our catalogued collections.
Additionally, many thousands of personal names have been added to individual
records. A list of records where names have been added is available see below under 'Special Cataloguing Projects’.
Local Studies - the catalogue currently includes:
Some of the local studies collection of books.
The Champney collection, a special collection consisting of the library of
John Edward Champney
donated as the Champney bequest in 1929.
It is our aim to have the complete local studies catalogue online by the end of 2011 as new parts of it are added.
The catalogue is constantly being added to so it is worth returning to find out what new material has been catalogued. The catalogue links to a ‘live’ version of our database and is always up to date.
The catalogue is the product of the work of all of our staff and also volunteers.
We have received invaluable support from the
Heritage Lottery Fund for the development of this catalogue.
Special Cataloguing Projects
This lists the records that volunteers and staff have worked on to provide additional details in our online catalogue. This usually includes the names of individuals and any other personal information related to them where given such as age, profession, and place of origin.
